Architectural Modules

Description

The world of architecture is constantly evolving, moving from traditional concrete brick construction sites to modern dry construction systems. This speech will explore the concept of architectural modules, a design approach that exploits the potential of industrial fabrication applied to architecture. These modules, despite having standard dimensions, offer complete customization in terms of colors and finishes, representing an innovative response to the redevelopment needs of existing buildings and the implementation of new constructions.

Modular architecture combines design flexibility with construction efficiency, ensuring ease of assembly, quality control, and optimization of installation times. This advanced model of modern construction becomes even more interesting when applied to noble materials such as marble. The use of marble in prefabricated modules can reduce custom production costs and promote a more sustainable construction model. Additionally, the aesthetic variety and formal potential of the modules, amplified by the use of color and texture of the stone material, allow for the creation of visually impactful three-dimensional compositions.

During the presentation, Professor Marco Imperadori from the Polytechnic University of Milan, holder of the chair of Design and Technological Innovation at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture, will illustrate the potential of modular architecture. Afterwards, Daniele Pedretti, entrepreneur of Pedretti Graniti, will delve into the challenges and principles related to the extraction of stone materials, presenting examples of collaborations with renowned architectural studios and significant contributions to projects such as those of Arte Sella.
