Natural Stone and modern architecture in Italy (1920-1940)
Description
Modern Italian architecture – unlike the rest of Europe – sees natural stone remain in the forefront in defining the external image of buildings and their internal spaces, becoming the main tool for bringing new architecture closer to the classical tradition and its rationality. This presentation traces the main stages of this design and construction research, while also highlighting issues relating to recovery and conservation.
