STONE ARCHITECTURES: From function to decoration. Marble in international Contract projects

Description

The Italian, English, and American editions of Elle Decor will present different case history dedicated to the formal and functional use of stone materials in Contract projects.

Livia Peraldo Matton addresses the theme of Contract within the hotel industry by presenting the Six Senses in Rome. Inaugurated in 2023, the project is designed by the Urquiola studio; Patricia Urquiola, founder of the studio, explains how she interpreted this first urban hotel for the Thai group. Urquiola's touch harmonizes, weaves narrative threads that reveal the history of the building while creating a new one, and establishes a harmonious connection with nature and the Roman genius loci. A perfect example of the integration of stone materials in a design project.

Asad Syrkett, along with Elisabeth Graziolo, architect from Yellow Studio New York, discuss how to reimagine the use of marble in various projects, from residential spaces to commercial ones, emphasizing the timeless versatility and charm of this natural stone.

Ben Spriggs presents the new Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, inaugurated in June 2024. The project has involved extensive use of marble and stone. The rooms and suites were designed by the London-based interior design firm Studio Indigo, while the public areas were conceived by the Japanese studio Curiosity.
