Stone Masters Proclamation Ceremony
Description
The history of the Stone Masters Award is a long one, dating back to 1319. Under the rule of Cangrande I della Scala, the Ancient Free Corporation of the Stone Arts was established in Verona that year. This Corporation brought together stonemasons, quarrymen, artists, and all the masters of stone craftsmanship from the quarries of Lessinia, Valpolicella, and Valpantena. In 1980, a group of marble operators and entrepreneurs from Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella revived the ancient Corporation, and it was from that year onwards that the recognition of the Stone Masters was instituted at Marmomac. This award is intended for those individuals who have distinguished themselves in promoting the entire marble industry and the local economy through their work.
Afterwards, we’ll see a musical performance by a group of young Brazilians from the Camerata Rochativa association of the Brazilian mining world, which promotes education and social assistance.
